These cauliflower buffalo wings with vegan ranch dip are the perfect comfort food! They’re super easy to make and they’re soooo delicious! We simply can’t get enough of them!

I absolutely LOVE cauliflower wings! I’ve made them sooo many times and perfected my cauliflower wings recipe over time. Adding panko breadcrumbs really did the trick. It makes them so incredibly crispy!

Are there really any of you out there that don’t like a well made, properly sauced Buffalo Chicken Wing? Obviously not, I mean, what kind of person are you if you don’t like sticky, messy hot wings!? I certainly wouldn’t trust ya…

During one of our recent “What I Eat in a Day” segments I made up this deep fried cauliflower wings recipe on the spot as part of my lunch. It was insanely yummers, and after an overwhelming response from viewers asking for an entire video dedicated to the recipe, I decided it was time to deliver. Did I come up with this concept, nope, but am I the first one to deep fry these awesome vegan cauliflower wings instead of bake them? You betcha!

For those of you who have never heard of cauliflower wings: No, cauliflower didn’t grow wings overnight! Haha! Cauliflower wings are kind of like chicken wings but they’re made out of cauliflower florets instead.

The recipe is divided into three simple steps:

  • Dip the cauliflower wings into a batter made out of flour and spices and roll them in panko bread crumbs. Then bake them.
  • Coat the baked cauliflower wings with your favorite sauce like BBQ sauce or hot sauce and bake them again until they’re crispy.
  • Serve with a delicious dipping sauce like vegan ranch dip. Enjoy!!

These are a serious crowd pleaser in our home. I can’t make a batch fast enough to keep up with the neighbours and roommates that come over just for these bad boys. They’re not even over to visit me, they’re just here for the wings. And, to be honest—I don’t blame them. These guys are one of the best creations to come out of this carnivore approved kitchen. I’ve made them for large groups of people at Toronto Veg Fest, for potlucks over at Kin Community, and they are the star of the show at any get together I host. I am certain that these obey gooey sticky buffalo cauliflower wings will end up in your go-to recipe book as well.

  • 1 large head cauliflower (cut into bite size pieces)
  • 1-2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil (depending on the size of your head of cauliflower)
  • 1/3 - 1/2 cup Panko breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup Tabasco Buffalo Style Hot Sauce (Frank's also makes a Buffalo hot sauce)
  • Cheater Vegan Ranch Dip
  • 1/2 cup vegan sour cream
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup soy milk (*see note)
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp dried parsley

  1. Preheat oven to 450 degrees F.
  2. In a large bowl, drizzle the olive oil over the cauliflower and toss to coat well.
  3. Pour the breadcrumbs over and toss again to coat.
  4. Pour cauliflower onto a parchment lined baking sheet and spread out into one layer.
  5. Roast for 20 minutes or until cauliflower starts to get tender.
  6. Take out of oven and pour back into the large bowl.
  7. Pour hot sauce over cauliflower and toss to coat. (Feel free to add a bit more breadcrumbs at this point as well)
  8. Place back on baking sheet and roast for another 10-15 minutes or so until cauliflower starts to get crispy on the edges.
  9. Meanwhile, make the Cheater Vegan Ranch Dip. Combine all ingredients in a high speed blender and blend until combined.
  10. Take cauliflower out of oven. Serve with Cheater Vegan Ranch Dip.

Recipe Notes

  • ~Some brands of vegan sour cream are thinner than others. If yours seems very loose, start with only 2 tbsp of soy milk and then add more, 1 tbsp at a time, until you reach the desired consistency for dipping.
